July 23rd, 2009

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 4 out of 5 stars
Price: $20 @ department stores
Website: http://www.dermablend.com

What it is: Complete coverage, oil-free concealer for minor to moderate facial skin flaws. Lightweight texture provides twice the coverage of classic concealers without a heavy feel. Covers all skin imperfections while giving you a smooth, natural complexion without enhancing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles or pores.

Pros: Covers really nicely and it doesn’t feel heavy on me. It really does last all day!

Cons: I just wish the tube was a bit larger, but a little does go a long way!

Product Review: CARGO blu_ray™ Pressed Powder

May 5th, 2009

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 5 out of 5 stars
Price: $30 @ http://www.sephora.com

What it is: A pressed powder created especially for use with high-definition film.

What it does: Created to provide flawless results while looking completely natural during high-definition filming, blu_ray™ Pressed Powder contains specialized photochromatic pigments that adjust with the light so that your base makeup always looks perfect regardless of lighting or setting.

What else you need to know: Photochromatic pigments adjust with the lighting so that you have natural looking makeup no matter what the setting, while ultra-fine micronized minerals fill the look of fine lines and reduce the appearance of imperfections. An irregular particle size creates light dispersion, an effect that softens the look of the skintone. This oil-free powder is perfect whether you are getting married, going to your prom, having portraits taken, or simply want to look fabulous anytime and comes in a sleek black compact for convenient touch-up on the go.

PROS: This is the best pressed powder ever! It may not work for everyone, but it definitely works for me! It makes my skin looks flawless and natural-looking. My skin also looks so nice in photos so it’s great for everyday-wear. Usually I would wear liquid foundation, but I don’t really need it anymore because this pressed powder makes my skin looks clear and it’s light on the skin, so I can’t feel it at all.

CONS: Nothing bad about it!

Product Review: MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer

May 3rd, 2009

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 5 out of 5 stars
Price: $16.50 @ MAC freestanding stores or department stores
Website: http://www.maccosmetics.com

What it is: A creamy concealer that provides full coverage with a natural matte finish. Brushes on with enough blend time to conceal any size of blemish. Rich formulation allows you to use a micro-amount of product to even out skin. Water-resistant and long-wearing.

Pros: I really love how it’s creamy, goes on really nice, and is easy to blend. It covers my dark circles very well and also the shade on my nose.

Cons: It’s really hard covering my pimples, but that’s the only bad thing about the concealer.

Product Review: Styli-Style Liquid Liner Pen

July 17th, 2008

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Price: $6.99 @ CVS or other drugstores that sells Styli-Style http://www.stylistyle.com

What it is: Really lasts 24+ hours! 24 HOUR POWER. Go dark, darker, darkest. Liquid Eyeliner 24 is the first ever US eyeliner pen to contain the newly approved carbon black powder. European women have been using for years to achieve that truly black eyeliner look. The semi-permanent waterproof formula lasts all day and dries super fast for easy application. The fine pen nib delivers super thin and wider lines for that more dramatic liquid eyeliner effect.

Pros: It does not sting my eyes like most liquid liners do. The Styli-Style dries to a quick finish and does not smudge at all. I can create a dramatic dark line and wing it out. It also comes off easily with eye makeup remover.

Cons: The first few days that I’ve used it were great but after two or three days I was very upset because whenever I lined my eyes, there wasn’t that much ink coming out of the pen so I had a hard time lining my eyes. At first, I used the tips to line my eyes, and then I tried lining it from the side (pictured below). I’ve been using this product for over two weeks already and I still don’t know what is wrong. Every time I swatched the eyeliner on my hand, I used the tips, and it works well there, but whenever I lined my eyes, it doesn’t work at all anymore. So if anyone has this pen, please help me out as to why this is happening!!!

Product Review: Ardell Lash & Brow Growth Accelerator

May 31st, 2008

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 4 out of 5 stars
Price: $4-$5

After reading Vanessa’s written product review on the Ardell Lash & Brow Growth Accelerator, I just HAD to try it out.

I think that eyebrows are most important of a girl’s feature because it frames the face. My brows are seriously messed up. Every time I take a picture of myself, I always look at my brows first. It’s always never in place because they’re so long. Even if I used the MAC Brow Finisher, which is a wax to keep brows in place, it never seems to do its job. I never had this problem before with my old brows. They always seem to stay in place and I never did anything to my brows except pluck them. I honestly never drew them in until now. I always worry that someone will say something about my brows. No one ever does, thankfully, but I always worry about them too much.

I grew out my brows in the end of 2006 because my cousin wanted me to do so so they could look nice for her older brother’s wedding (I was one of the bridesmaids). Before, I didn’t have an arch, but I do now and I hate them!! I really want to grow them out again so they don’t look as gross as they do now.

PROS: I tried this out for three weeks and it works perfectly! My eyebrows are growing quicker and thicker than ever. I also tried this out on my lashes and I truly love it! They are getting longer, especially my lower lashes.

CONS: There are some parts on my brows that I want to grown longer, but it doesn’t seem to do its job. It just grows a little and stops for some reason.

Product Review: Laura Geller Spackle Trio

April 7th, 2008

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 4 out of 5 stars
Price: $30

What it is: Smoothes, perfects, and evens out eyes, lips, and cheeks, priming them for makeup that lasts all day.

Pros: It really does its job at priming the eyes, lips, and face. It has a really cute mirror inside where the Lip and Eye Spackle are. The Eye Spackle gives you a smooth canvas to work on, which is great, and prevents your eyeshadow from creasing. It also brightens tired eyes. What I really like about the Lip Spackle is that you can use it before your lipstick (of course) and lipgloss too. So it brings out the true color in them. It’s a great travel-sized product to bring wherever you go. It’s a pretty good dupe for the MAC Lip Eraser which is a PRO product if you don’t have an online membership or if you don’t live near a Pro store.

Cons: I don’t like the fact that it’s in a little circular long jar giving you a spoon-like object to scoop out the face primer. Because what if whenever you’re done you can’t scoop out the rest of it? It’ll be like a waste.

Product Review: MAC Mineralize SatinFinish Foundation

February 23rd, 2008

Reader Meiseen requested this, so hopefully this helps (:

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 5 out of 5 stars
Price: $26.50

Pros: This makes your skin very soft. If you use this with a MAC 187 brush (pictured below), it makes your skin looking “airbrushed” and doesn’t apply heavily like my Sephora foundation brush (also pictured below). I love the pump because it’s more cleaner to apply than using one without it.

Cons: The foundation can be drying, so apply moisturizer on first.

Product Review: MAC Metal-X Cream Shadow

December 5th, 2007

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 4 out of 5 stars
Price: $16.50

Pros: The color is very pretty and is vibrant.

Cons: What I didn’t like about it was that when I dipped a brush into the pot, the shadow clumped up. As I applied it onto my eyes, some of the clumpness fell onto my cheeks. I thought that it would be a creamy consistency, since it is a “cream to powder” shadow. It doesn’t go on smoothly at all!

I’m thinking about getting more, try out different colors, and hopefully it’ll be as different.

Product Review: MAC Prep + Prime Eye

November 4th, 2007

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Packaging: 5 out of 5 stars
Price: $16

I have been needing an eye primer since forever because my eyeshadows wouldn’t stop creasing! I was thinking about buying the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, but on the MAC online website, there was free shipping so I couldn’t pass that offer up, and plus I wanted to stick to a MAC product (: This product seriously works wonder! My eyeshadow stays on all day without creasing or sliding off. Only the lightest coat is needed. All you need to do is pat your finger in the pot a couple of times and smooth it onto your eye area because if you put too much it’ll be greasy that it’ll crease. So this will last you forever! Well, maybe not forever… maybe a year or so. hehe.
